Dakar, 02 April – Much more than a simple association, the Consortium Jeunesse Sénégal embodies a unique framework for consultation, a laboratory for the continent’s youth, a collective force that, since its emergence in 2020, has challenged norms and forged a new model of development and cooperation, with and for young people.
The idea that there is strength in numbers was the impetus for the creation of the SJC. Together with the leaders and representatives of a dozen organizations, we had repeatedly suffered the fact that many reduced youth organizations to neighborhood activities, cultural festivities or sports competitions. However, our experience, our actions and our results set us far beyond that. We therefore founded the SJC to break this glass ceiling, radically change the perception that the state, cooperation actors, the private sector and civil society have of youth organisations, and enable our solutions to take on a new scale, in order to impact our communities in a more meaningful way.
