Torino, 1/28 February 2025 – The event, promoted by the Association of Sub-Saharan African Women and the Second Generation, will take place in the territory of the metropolitan city of Turin, involving 20 historical sites of great importance in 6 municipalities (Turin, Rivalta di Torino, Pino Torinese, Settimo Torinese, Carmagnola and Collegno).
This event, heir to a historical and international tradition dating back to 1926, will attempt for the fourth time in our city to celebrate and disseminate the history of Afro-descendants with the aim of instilling a sense of pride and countering racist discourses that promote the idea of an alleged inferiority in the achievements of the black community.
In its first edition in 2022, the event debuted with an analysis of our past, present and future.
The 2023 edition was an opportunity to reflect on the themes of identity, Afro art and empowerment.
The 2024 edition was an opportunity to reflect on the themes of expression, sustainability (environmental and otherwise) and entrepreneurship (female and otherwise).
In 2025, Black History Month Turin will once again focus on three main themes: stories, art and sport. The selection of these themes is the result of a careful assessment of the contemporary socio-political context and the desire to bring to attention and analyse the dynamics of our time and its critical issues.
