Abidjan, 9 May 2022 – COP 15: SCOPE AND IMPACT OF THE ABIDJAN INITIATIVE – Côte d’Ivoire hosted, from May 9 to 20, 2022, the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP15) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), which is opened on May 9 by a Summit of Heads of State and Government. The theme of COP15 “Land, Life, Heritage: from a precarious world towards a prosperous future” is a call for general mobilization to reverse the catastrophic rate of soil degradation, deforestation and desertification, sources of conflicts, poverty, famines and migratory phenomena for the most vulnerable populations in the world.
